If I wanted to travel there to check it out, could I without fear and danger?

People have no idea what life in most Islamic countries is like...and not in the small rich folks areas, but in the poor areas where most of the millions live.
Person to person, they can be just like anyone else, curious and friendly. 3 or more and you become an infidel, and any activity that isn't devout or accepted you can be stoned, beat to death, or cut. Like an unmarried woman with any man, or with bare arms, etc.

yeah, i figured.
i think of the contractors and others in the past 5-10 years that have been kidnapped and killed.
plus i figure there must be many more we never heard about.
I also thought of september 11th and video that they showed of people watching on tv in the streets. when the towers went down everyone started cheering like their team just scored a goal. they were really fuckin happy.
I always think of that.
So basically in most areas of the middle east if a non muslim, or westerner is out in the open they have a huge chance of being murdered? I guess if youre there long enough its just a matter of time.
Non muslims really should think alot about that reality.

I would love to read a link chronicling the Jerry Springer-Opera threats. Were they anonymous? Were the threats sanctioned by a national council of churches? At least the threats against Rushdie were well documented and were handed down from a religious leader. And many publically vowed to carry out his orders. At this point I fail to see where there is any comparison to be made.

I'm sure many of you here think all Muslims should beprevented going into aeroplanes or searched more.
Just wondering how would anyone know whose a Muslim or not? Should they just do it to people with Middle-Eastern sounding names, as most Christian Middle-Easterners have virtually indistinguishable names from the Muslim there. Then there is the Majority of Muslims who have South-Asian/South-East Asia names.

How about non-fundamentalist muslims? Surely they will be driven closer to fundamentalism and terrorism after getting harsher treatments and humiliation at every airport, and then viewing non-Muslims as true enemies. Wont that kind of stuff be more harm than good - every terrorist we are preventing, we are creating hundreds more.

But yeah anyway, the bigotry makes amazing reading. I'd love to see the shitstorm the world will descend into when people with views like that will gain political leverage - though I doubt and hope it wont ever happen. :glugglug:

that's all just wonderful. It would be interesting to know if you are just as tolerant of Christianity. I have personal experience with Muslims as I have Muslim friends and was roommates with one about 17 years ago. The occasional religious and cultural difference raised it's head but we remain great friends to this day.
